ATR+ (Activated tyre rubber +), a product derived from recycled rubber, is a Modifier designed to improve asphalt performances. ATR+ is used either in cold patch and hot mix to reduce the level of noise, cracking and rutting of the roads. It is successfully used for roads in extreme hot and cold temperature environment.
ATR+ is made out of recycled tire rubber and using it is therefore highly positive for the environement.
The benefits of ATR+ are :
- ATR+ offers a way to increase an asphalt binder’s hot temperature performances by increasing the blender binder’s performance grading (PG).
- The use of ATR+ to enhance grades is not reducing the original binder’s low temperature values.
- ATR+ products mix much more easily and quickly that traditional wet process rubbers. They require much lower shear mixing levels and mix to a constant viscosity.
- ATR+ mixing properties are reducing the amount of equipment needed at hot plants versus the asphalt rubber blend products of the wet process.
- ATR+ uses the PG system that traditional asphalt rubber blends can’t.
